What 104 Law Firm Websites Show

We checked 104 Australian law firm sites that rank on Google, and the details clients want most were often missing.

Websites for Law Firms

What Is Law Firm Website Design?

Law firm website design is building a site that turns a worried visitor into a booked consultation, by answering cost, people and trust fast.

It covers practice area and fee pages, lawyer profiles, mobile speed, intake forms and the tracking that shows which pages bring in matters.

How Clients Size Up a Law Firm Website

A visitor decides quickly whether to call, and four questions decide it.

  1. 01

    Do You Handle My Matter?

Practice area and city in plain words at the top. Google ranks homepages for broad city searches.

  2. 02

    What Will It Cost?

45 of 120 People Also Ask questions on lawyer searches were about cost.

  3. 03

    Who Will I Deal With?

A named lawyer with a photo, admission year and practice focus. Only half of firm sites had one.

  4. 04

    How Do I Start?

A short form and a tap-to-call number, with a response time your team keeps.

What Actually Moves Enquiries for Law Firm Websites

  • A Fees Page

In our Brisbane check, the top organic result for a fees search was a firm’s fees page, ahead of every homepage. We build one for each main matter type.

  • Lawyer Profiles

One page per lawyer with role, admission year, practice focus and any accreditation, linked from every practice area page they handle.

  • Pages by Matter Type

Property settlement and parenting orders are different searches. Each gets its own page with steps, timeframes, a fee range and the lawyer who runs it.

  • Fast on a Phone

People search for a criminal lawyer from a police station car park. We build lean pages and test them on real phones before launch.

  • Short Intake Forms

Name, phone, email and one line about the issue. A response time sits next to the button, and your team keeps it.

  • Credentials in Plain Text

Doyle’s Guide rankings and accreditations written as text and linked to the source, so Google and AI assistants can read them. A logo image alone is easy to miss.

Websites Written Within the Legal Advertising Rules

Your website is advertising under the conduct rules, from page titles to the reviews you quote. We build compliance into the copy and the code.

01

Rule 36 in the Copy

No outcome promises and no false impression of specialist expertise. “Accredited specialist” appears only next to lawyers who hold it.

02

Queensland Injury Pages

A Queensland firm’s own site may explain the law of negligence and the conditions it takes injury cases on. We keep injury pages inside that exception.

03

Privacy and Tracking

The OAIC says the business that installs a tracking pixel is responsible for it. We configure analytics and ad pixels so enquiry details stay private.

11 in 8

law firm sites turned away ChatGPT’s crawler, mostly via firewall or hosting settings (Uprise, 2026).

Web Design for Lawyers Questions, Answered

How much does a law firm website cost?

Our custom law firm websites start from $4,500. The final price depends on scope, features and integrations, such as how many practice areas and lawyers need their own pages.

How long does a law firm website take to build?

Most projects take 4 to 8 weeks. The usual delay is content and photos from the firm, so we lock those in before development starts.

What pages does a law firm website need?

At minimum, a homepage, one page per practice area or matter type, a profile for each lawyer, a fees page, an about page and a contact page. Guides can follow over time to answer the questions clients search.

Should we put our fees on the website?

Yes, wherever you can give a real range. 45 of 120 People Also Ask questions on lawyer searches were about cost, yet only 28 of 104 firm sites showed a dollar figure.

Can we show client reviews on our site?

Yes, within the rules. Reviews you quote are advertising, so rule 36 and the Australian Consumer Law apply. We never quote a review that promises an outcome.

Will a new website hurt our Google rankings?

Not when it’s done properly. We redirect every old URL to its new page, keep the content that already ranks and check the site after launch.

Should our site let AI crawlers in?

Usually yes. 14 of 104 law firm sites we checked refused ChatGPT’s crawler, and all but one of those blocks came from firewall or hosting settings. We set access on purpose at launch.
