Instagram Ads for Dentists

What Are Instagram Ads for Dentists?

Instagram ads put short videos and images of your practice into the Reels, Stories and feeds of people near your clinic.

Because Instagram is visual, before-and-after images, patient stories and influencer posts need the most care in health.

How Instagram Ads Work for a Practice

Each Instagram format does a different job in moving someone from scrolling to booking.

  1. 01

    Reels Introduce You

Short videos of your dentists, hygienists and rooms build familiarity before anyone needs care.

  2. 02

    Stories Prompt Action

Full-screen Stories ads carry a new-patient offer, with its terms, and a link to book.

  3. 03

    Carousels Explain

Swipeable posts walk through what a treatment involves, its risks and what it costs.

  4. 04

    Follow Up With Care

Reach people who engaged with your Instagram content, never audiences built on health data.

What Actually Moves Bookings from Instagram for Dental and Health Clinics

  • Real Team, Real Rooms

Your practitioners on camera, named with their profession, in the rooms patients will visit. Real footage shows who you are without promising outcomes.

  • Before-and-After by the Rules

Cosmetic images must be real, free of misleading edits and carry a ‘results may vary’ warning. Meta also limits side-by-side comparisons for some cosmetic ads.

  • Creators Without Endorsements

Ahpra bans influencer testimonials for cosmetic procedures, and you’re responsible for content you pay creators to post. Our creator briefs describe your service and never review a treatment.

  • Comments Moderated

A comment praising a treatment on your ad is a testimonial on a page you control. We hide clinical comments and leave praise for your service.

  • No Syringes or Nicknames

The TGA treats syringe images and nicknames like ‘Tox’ as references to prescription medicines. Cosmetic clinics need creative that shows neither.

  • A Profile Ready for Clicks

A clinic’s Instagram page that promotes its services is advertising too. We check your bio, highlights and pinned posts to the same standard as your ads.

Before-and-After, Testimonials and Influencers

Three things Instagram rewards are tightly limited for health practices. Here’s how we handle each one.

01

Before-and-After Images

Allowed only when genuine and not misleading. For cosmetic surgery, the Medical Board requires matched lighting and angles, no editing, and a warning that the outcome applies to that patient only.

02

Patient Testimonials

Clinical testimonials are banned in all health advertising, including Reels, Stories and comments on pages you control. Comments about service and communication can stay.

03

Influencers

Since 2 September 2025, Ahpra’s cosmetic guidelines strengthen the ban on influencer testimonials and apply to every regulated profession, dentists included. We don’t use paid endorsements for treatments.

Meet the People Behind Your Instagram Ads

Instagram Ads for Healthcare Questions, Answered

Can dentists use before-and-after photos on Instagram?

Yes, if they’re genuine and don’t create unreasonable expectations. For cosmetic procedures, images must be real, free of misleading edits and carry a warning that results may vary. Meta also limits side-by-side comparisons for some cosmetic ads, so we choose the format per treatment.

Can we work with influencers?

For cosmetic procedures, influencer testimonials are banned. For other services, you’re responsible for anything you pay a creator to post, and clinical testimonials are banned everywhere. We keep creator content to who you are and what you offer.

What about comments on our ads and posts?

If a comment talks about a symptom, treatment or outcome, it’s a testimonial on a page you control, and you’re responsible for it. Comments about friendly staff or easy booking can stay. We moderate both your ads and your profile.

Can we post about anti-wrinkle injections?

Not by naming or hinting at the medicine. The TGA’s guidance flags brand names, nicknames like ‘Tox’, syringe images and phrases like ‘wrinkle reduction injections’. We build content around your practitioners, their qualifications and your clinic.

Can under-18s see our ads?

Not for cosmetic procedures. Meta requires those ads to target people 18 and over, and Ahpra bans cosmetic advertising aimed at under 18s. For general dental and health services, we set age ranges to suit the service.

Should we run Instagram or Facebook ads?

Both run from one Meta account. Visual services like dental, skin and physio often suit Reels and Stories, so we test both placements and move budget to the one that books.

How much should we spend on Instagram ads?

Plan for at least $1,500 a month in ad spend, which gives us enough data to learn from. Most practices start with $2,000 to $5,000 a month.
