The Situation
XTech Renewables had built a solid business on the back of government rebate activity in the Melbourne solar market. When enquiry volumes are driven by incentive schemes, growth can feel almost automatic. Then the rebates shifted, the market cooled, and the phone stopped ringing the way it used to.
Ashley Branson, Director of X Tech Renewables, had been sourcing leads through a third-party platform. It had worked to a point, but the volume was unreliable, the quality was inconsistent, and the leads had no real connection to X Tech’s brand or positioning. When the broader market softened, that pipeline dried up quickly.
Previous attempts at running digital marketing independently hadn’t delivered the customer quality the business needed. X Tech Renewables came to Uprise looking for a sustainable, owned lead generation system that could perform independent of external market conditions.
Ashley’s approach to finding the right agency was deliberate. He used Grok AI to identify the best performance marketing agency for his requirements. Uprise came back as the first recommendation. One hour after the initial phone call, Lakshane met Ashley in person at the Cremorne office. The engagement started that week.
The Diagnosis
The solar and battery storage market in Melbourne is competitive and increasingly sophisticated. Homeowners have been pitched by dozens of installers, seen countless rebate offers come and go, and grown skeptical of generic advertising that leads with price or urgency. The category that once sold itself on government incentives now has to earn trust through education and authority.
X Tech Renewables had real strengths worth building on: genuine expertise in solar and battery systems, a track record in the Melbourne market, and a service offering that went beyond the installation itself. None of that was showing up in their marketing. Without a clear positioning strategy and an owned digital funnel, they were competing in a crowded market with no distinct reason for a homeowner to choose them.
The other structural gap was measurement. With no GA4 setup, no CRM, and no nurture sequences in place, there was no way to track where leads came from, how they progressed, or what was actually converting to sales. Marketing decisions were being made blind.
The core problem was dependency:
On external platforms for leads, on market conditions for demand, and on incentives for conversion. The goal was to build a system X Tech Renewables owned outright, that performed on its own terms regardless of what the market was doing.
What We Did
01
We positioned X Tech Renewables as a market authority, not just another installer
In a sceptical category, the businesses that win are the ones that educate first. We identified X Tech Renewables’ genuine differentiators, researched what competitors were saying, and built a positioning strategy that placed the brand as an expert voice on solar, battery storage, and available rebate pathways for Melbourne homeowners.
This became the foundation for all creative and messaging: ad scripts, landing page copy, and email sequences were all built around education and authority rather than promotional offers and urgency.
02
We built and launched paid campaigns across Meta and Google
We developed ad creative specifically designed to educate and pre-qualify. On Meta, this meant awareness-driving creative that spoke to homeowners at the research stage, building familiarity and trust before they were ready to enquire.
On Google, we captured active intent from homeowners already searching for solar and battery solutions in Melbourne.
All ad creative was developed inhouse by Uprise: ad scripts written, creative produced, and messaging aligned to the authority positioning established in strategy one. The result was a consistent brand experience from first impression through to enquiry.
03
We built a custom landing page engineered for conversion
Rather than sending traffic to the existing website, we built a dedicated landing page structured around the specific intent of the campaign traffic. The page educated visitors on solar and battery options, addressed the most common objections in the category, and made the path to an enquiry clear and low-friction.
The landing page was built to qualify as well as convert. By presenting relevant information upfront, it filtered for homeowners who were genuinely ready to engage, improving lead quality before a single call was made.
04
We installed the full backend: CRM, nurture sequences, and conversion tracking
For a business that had been operating without a CRM or conversion tracking, this was a foundational shift. We implemented a full CRM setup, built automated email nurture sequences to educate and warm leads between enquiry and sale, and configured GA4 with proper conversion tracking across all campaign touchpoints.
For the first time, X Tech Renewables had complete visibility into where leads were coming from, how they were moving through the funnel, and what was generating revenue. Every subsequent optimisation decision was grounded in real data.
The Results
X Tech Renewables now generates over 150 inbound leads per month at a cost per lead of $55 and a cost per acquisition of $400. Between 15 and 20 percent of those enquiries convert to sales each month, a consistent rate built on warmer, more educated prospects arriving through a funnel the business fully owns. The dependency on third-party platforms and market conditions is gone.
What Ashley Said
“Lakshane and his amazing team at Uprise have helped our company significantly in the short time that we have engaged their services. Since that first meeting until now a few months later, we have had over a 10,000% increase in the amount of leads being generated and many now converting into paying customers, helping to increase our revenue generation.
If you are reading this review, I highly recommend Lakshane and Uprise Digital for their marketing and support services, especially if your prime driver is lead generation. Top notch. Very highly recommend. 10 out of 10.”

The Takeaway
Markets shift. Rebate schemes change. Third-party lead platforms come and go. The businesses that survive these transitions are the ones with owned, sustainable acquisition systems that perform on their own terms.
X Tech Renewables came to Uprise when external conditions had removed the tailwinds the business had been relying on. The response wasn’t to chase the next incentive scheme or find a new platform to buy leads from. It was to build something the business owned completely: a positioning strategy, a paid media presence, a conversion funnel, and a backend system that turned enquiries into customers systematically.
From an unreliable, platform-dependent lead source to 150-plus owned inbound enquiries per month at $55 each and a sales team converting at 15 to 20 percent. The market didn’t recover. The strategy made it irrelevant.
